I've had a hell of a time with Level 40 as well and from what I've searched/found is match a few colored balls until you see a blinking lime green colored spider. Hopefully once you do, you can hit the outside line, dropping the rest and giving you what high score you need. I'm going to try later once I've got my 5 lives again...if not, I give up! :) Hope it works.
