Light-bulbPLANT AFTER YOU HAVE JOINED OR STARTED A CO-OP JOB--a bad experience from listening to some elses "tip" on Co-Op farming

Some one said that, in order to complete the tasks quicker, to plant your crops, let them grow and before harvesting, then join or start a job.
DON'T DO IT!!!
I did that with a whole field of pumpkins. When they were 98% grown, I joined a friends job. When my pumpkins had matured, I harvested them. Nothing popped up about the job. So, I check the job and......NOTHING. It said that I hadn't planted or harvested anything. Too late now to help them out. By the time I plant and harvest again, the task will have either ended or timed out.
So, I say get your friends on the same page with you. Start the job and then have them join.

I don't think anybody pointed out that you don't have to seed or harvest a single thing, a feature that lots of us despise. Parasitic CoOp members get EXACTLY the same reward as the MVP and STARTER. The only thing is is that they can only get one credit towards a helper ribbon, no MVP or STARTER credit.

I've started a new way of doing CoOps on my own. I have a huge farm of 672 plots. I start a Tomato CoOp and plant the whole field. When those tomatoes are 90% ready I biplane them for 1 FV cash and harvest immediately. I then replant the whole field and harvest those immediately when they are 100% ready. So in just two plots I can plant and harvest 1300 tomatoes all on my own. I get the Starter and MVP ribbon all to myself!

here is only one problem, somebody else can interfere and plant crops too, and then harvest them late thereby ruining my gold medal. Oh, I also get people joining who do nothing but I don't mind, one of them is my wife and others are friends & neighbours!

It DOES work, plant first, let ripen 100% not 50% not 98% , 100%.
Now you can leave one group of plots empty ( i dont, i harvest that group for the coin )

join the co-op for the plots you have READY
Plant the now ( or previously empty ) plots with the desired items
the coop now counts and tracks how many you JUST planted
now harvest from the previously ready plants the same amount you just planted.
now replant those

repeat these steps until you have harvested AND reseeded your entire field

Actual working example:
Field 20x20
planted entire field with grapes
when ready i harvested a 20 x 4 strip ( i get the coin for that) 80 plots ready to plant 320 ready to harvest
Join the Grape Co-op
replant the 20 x 4 strip, co-op now shows i planted 80 plots
I now harvest my next strip of 20 x 4 Co-Op shows i have harvested 80 plots
I now replant that strip co-op now shows i have planted 160 grapes and harvested 80
I now harvest my next 20 x 4 strip Co-op now shows 160 harvested and planted

keep repeating until entire field is replanted Co-Op will show 400 planted and 320 harvested
this should only take 15 - 20 minutes
so you have now harvested 320 plots and seeded 400 plots in 15 minutes of Co-Op time
Grapes take 1 day to ripen, so you are 1 day ahead of the co-op.
Next day
harvest a 20 x 4 area
reseed that area
co-op will now show a 400 harvest and 480 seeded
repeat all above steps again.
In co-op time (1 day) you have harvested and seeded your field TWICE (800 approx)
also remember In FV time 1 day is actually 23 hours.

so for gold you need to plant and harvest 1275 grapes in 1 day 23 hours ( total 47 hours )
using the above steps I can plant and harvest 1200 plots in 46 hours rather than 800 in 47 hours if done normally

grapes Fashion Co-op needs 2 people to accomplish Gold ( based on a 400 plots each )
with only one person using this method. ( an individual can harvest 1200 within the 1 day 23 hour Co-Op limit )
this leaves you short 75 plots

Ahh some eagle eyed individual may notice the missing 80 plots from the above example, that feeds in at the end you will have planted more than you harvested when you finish ( thats how you get the last 80 plots in my example) your choice then is

1. simply harvest the remaining for the coins,
or
2. restart another co-op as you are now right back where you started in the begining,
320 ready to harvest, and 80 ready to plant

REMEMBER: the co-op TRACKS what you planted in the very first step, and will not count anything beyond that. AND it must be the same item
you will get coin for it, but no credit in the co-op.

ok...preplanting does work...but always remember, that YOU CAN ONLY HARVEST WHAT YOU PLANT. For example, with my other farm, I have 400 plots, 20 rows of 20. What I do, I pre-plant 360 plots and leave 2 rows of 20 (total of 40 plots). Once the 360 plots are ready to harvest, I join a coop, then start planting the last 2 rows (40 plots). Once I'm done planting, I harvest the now ready 2 rows, and so it goes. I plant 2 rows, harvest 2 rows, so basically after all is said and done, you're ahead by 360 plots.

Thank you. I planted tulips in advance and when they were 50% complete, I joined a tulip co-op. I just harvested 8 tulips and it did not record on to the co-op harvest chart

Picture?type=square

You can do that if yo leave an empty part on your farm lets say from 9 pieces like traktors are. Than you join a co-op jobb and seed 9 pieces on this empty part of the field, than harvest 9, seed 9, harvest 9. And so on untyil you will be finished.
Only in this case the counter will register your harvested plants.
I made it twice, it is a time killer, too much jobb to do. Did not like it.

Your actually supposed to seed as you harvest. So for every plot you seed you can then harvest a plot. I have done it couple of times and it works great.

Picture?type=square

thanks for the info

Picture?type=square

I've been told you will only get credit for the number you seed when you harvest.

Picture?type=square

Also. the idea was to plant, let them grow, join a group. Seed a few squares with the required seed, then harvest the rest. I'm personally not sure if it works but if it does it won't work without seeding before you harvest, after you joined the group.

Picture?type=square

I joined a group. Didn't plant the required seed. When the task was completed I still got coins and XP. I joined the group an hour before they finished harvesting.

Picture?type=square

I got confused when my morning glories were ready and yet the job was not. I didnt understand that you have to harvest and plant again until the job was ready.

Picture?type=square

i like it bacause u can work as a team

Picture?type=square

i did the same thing with the grapes

Picture?type=square

Missy, thanks for sharing the experience. I also love Suzana's idea of harvesting a fraction of your ready crops, seeding, then harvesting..if you do have crops ready for harvest.

Picture?type=square

harvest more then you seeded? im confused :)

Picture?type=square

good answer it dont work if u join after

Picture?type=square

check all groups and join the ones that have finished seeding the required amount. Then plant what ever you want.

Picture?type=square

Pepper - Yes, You must join the job before you seed/plant. I re-rad my post and can see where the confusion comes in, sorry about that.

Picture?type=square

Aha. Good point Suzana. I never ended up harvesting more than I seeded, so I never ran into that. Definitely good to know. Thanks!

I agree with Cheryl, although not completely...

Found out the hard way I need to seed after accepting a job, I tried the following: harvested a few plots (they did not count), plowed and seeded what I needed. After doing that I harvested the exact amount I have just seeded and they both counted! I continued the same way and it worked out fine.

If I've harvested more than I have seeded, it did not count, so be careful about that!

Good luck to all :-)))
