Just got a "your friend suggested you to join 'Claim Your Limited Edition Farmville Black Stallion Now'" message. Usually I ignore these right away, but this friend rarely sends these suggestions AND also since Zynga has it's own Cow and Sheep pages that I initially thought were bogus :D I went to check it out just in case. Man, these pages are getting more and more cunning! So, when I clicked on the page, I saw this:

You see somebody leaving this comment?

I almost believed it because of this comment!! But you know what? These comments are not just fake (like fake profile leaving fake comments) THE WHOLE THING is just fake HTML! They just coded the page to look EXACTLY like facebook - I believe they are using another app that lets you write HTML, and they copied the look and feel of Facebook almost entirely!

But to think about it, it is weird that the comment box is just floating there on the right, when those are usually placed on the bottom of the page. So when you look at it very carefully you know something is not right. Also, there is only 5 comments there and if you try to use the comment box it says

AND YES, this is fake too!!!

And there is no way on the page to write your comment or reviews so many people are just helplessly following the steps and inviting people like crazy.

But I gotta admit, this is probably the state-of-the-art bogus group LOL I just wonder, what is the point in making these bogus group and having lots of people join (because I don't join these) do they eventually spam people by posting something on their wall?

@Alan i am not saying EVERY page can do it as for my computer being compromised I know at least 25 other friends who have had this issue the odds of ALL of out pages or computers being compromised are pretty slim

Picture?type=square

@ Coral - If that is truly happening to you, then either your Facebook account or your computer has been compromised. Facebook has things set up so that members have to click the "Like" link for a fan page in order to join it. If it was possible for fan pages to auto-like people, then every Facebook member would "like" every fan page out there. The whole system would be meaningless.

@ Alan Im not saying your friend does it its a spam bot not an actual person and i know for a fact it has happened to me a few times now where i find myself as a fan or liking a page i had not been to but a friend had

Picture?type=square

@ Coral Caldwell - Sorry, but it's not possible for your friend to auto-like a group on your behalf. The most a group might be able to do is to read your friends' Facebook Profile and auto-create something on their fan page that would look like you were a fan. But to actually affect your own Profile page? No. You would actually have to click something for that to happen.

@nextsmallthings its basically a spam bot that will go through your friends pages and send invites from you that you never sent as well as auto liking on their behalf it is horrible the best you can do is raiswe awareness amongst your friends to NEVER click on those pages

Picture?type=square

@Sam, yeah I saw it, it shows something like "XXX Has just received their Farm Bonus
XXX is receiving a bonus of a White Stallion. Remember this is LIMITED so if you are late - you will miss out" It's extremely deceiving, and in fact, I saw people commenting on their review page "where is my white stallion????" and "you better not charge my phone!" I feel so bad for them, but they are so gullible!!

Picture?type=square

@Coral - That's messed up if these fake fan pages are using you to "like" their page.

Picture?type=square

@Carol, can a friend really auto-like a page for their friends too??

Picture?type=square

I actually click on the people's names to see if it takes me to their profile ,,,,,makes it easy :D

Picture?type=square

I am so sick of these fake apps and the ignorant people who blatanly click on them... ..these guys are just encouraging the scammers to make more pages.

Picture?type=square

@Alan alot of people may not be fanning it willingly I personally have found myself a fan of a page that i did not even go to only to find out when my friend clicked like it auto liked the page on behalf of all of his friends

Picture?type=square

@ Sam - I've been getting invites to that dang group all morning. Unbelievable how many are falling for it.

This is another fake page. This is bit dangerous than the previous one. It auto generates some positive comment about the page and publish it on your profile.

"join" I mean not your group Carol, but "join" those bogus groups. :)

Picture?type=square

@Carol, thanks for the link, I've just joined it now :) I feel bad for all the people who joined because it really just makes you look like you are a type to easily be tricked. I'm scared of these crowds from past experience, if you know what I mean... :-|

Picture?type=square

While I can understand someone who has never joined one before doing it once, I don't understand why they keep joining these groups time and time again. I have friends who repeatedly send this stuff out and I can't help but wonder, "are you really that dumb?"

Picture?type=square

I simply ignore these fake fan pages. From day one since I started playing FV I saw many of them being posted to the wall and friends "liking" them. I'm fine with that but I know better than to believe that some fan page would promise a UNRELEASED item before Zynga even hints about it or even announces it.

Picture?type=square

If you click the 'Like' button, it posts on your profile and wall attracting more followers who think you've approved it and got 'the gift'.
Then step two is revealed. It asks you to complete an advertising survey. Then in theory, you get your 'prize' In practice it goes nowhere.
I've let them post on my wall and added a comment below to warn my friends "IT'S A CON - even the reviews are fake"

There are several of these pages, offering FV Cash and other 'goodies' which the naive will click on in the hope of getting 'lucky' :(

I Actually have a facebook page dedicated to fake page awareness cause i got so fed up with all the invites to fake pages anyone is welcome to join

That's FB's fault not enforcing a discussion or feedback tab on these group pages.
