I was having this problem for about 2 days, I would work in my City (it didn't matter what I was doing) and my game would pause and a "Saving your city" message comes up on the screen, followed by "oops we're having trouble saving please refresh".  I went and read on the Zynga forum and, as always, its a "we're working on the issue" message.  Anyways, normally this doesn't work, but I blocked and removed CityVille, cleared my cache, deleted temp files etc... restarted my laptop and then went back into Facebook and re-added Cityville, and its worked just fine with no issues since (been over 24hrs).  Hopefully this will work for at least some of you! Smile

To add on what Christine said, following those steps (I've listed them below along with some links you'll need) can sometimes fix a recurring problem you are having with CityVille, or any game for that matter. The game's applications can become corrupt, your browser's cache can stop properly pulling, and your flash player's cache can lock up as well. While there is no question that CityVille and the other games have a ton of bugs in them, following these steps first can fix some problems.

 

Cache, Flash, and App Cleaning

  1. Delete the Application - From any Facebook page: 1) Click on Accounts --> Privacy Settings; 2) Under Applications and Websites, click the "Edit Your Settings: link; 3) In the Applications You Use section, click the "Edit Settings" button; 4) Find the CityVille listing and click the "x" on the right side of the line.
  2. Clear Flash Player cache - Go to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html and select the "Delete all sites" button. This will clear old information that your Flash Player may be storing.
  3. Clear your browser's cache - Instructions at http://zynga.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/49
  4. Reboot your computer
  5. Reinstall the Application - Open your browser, go to Facebook, type CityVille in the search box, click the listing that comes up (should say "game" in the search listing). In the pop-up, give the application permission to install.
  6. Do a full refresh of your game -- Once fully loaded, hold down the CTRL key and press the F5 button at the same time. Let the game completely reload again.
  7. Check your game - After your game loads, check to see if the problem has been fixed. If it has not, then contact Zynga Support for assistance. Make sure you tell them exactly what the problem is as well as what you have done so far.
