Light-bulbMy Personal Opinion Of The Top 10 Things That Cityville Needs To Become The Best Game Ever!

Please_share
by Cory Lambing - Apr 17, 2011 Star_s574 views

So I have been playing Cityville for about 9 months now and have been
a frequent addict to the facebook app ever since. They have added so
many things and upgraded the game in some amazing ways since I first
placed my gaming fingers upon it. It almost seemed to me that they did
it all at once. The game basically set untouched for sometime and then
with the release of the Japaneese Items it seemed to me that the
developers went crazy with upgrades. Don't get me wrong, I love all the
new stuff and I don't know where I would be without the ability to
venture past level 60. But I must admit that there are some things
within the game that still to this day constantly frustrate me. That it
why I have taken it upon myself to compose a "Top 10" list of things
that I wish they would develop in order to make Cityville a whole heck
of a lot more "user friendly" Please feel free to include your own also
if you feel that I missed something along the way.

So without
further adue, I now present to you in order, the TOP TEN things that I
wish cityville included within the game that would make it a whole heck
of a lot more fun..

NUMBER TEN:

I
understand that it is a facebook app and my dreams of a console verison
of the game died some time ago but I really wish there was a way to
leave a message within the game for your neighbors. Say you visit a
friends city and as your fufilling you 5 tasks for the day you notice
that they took it upon themselves to name one of their business
something so off the wall that you almost fall out of your chair
laughing. I don't see why you can't drop them a line in the game and
tell them you love their personal creativity.
The ability to
communicate within the game itself with your neighbors would be a very
awesome addition. I mean there is a post office in the community
buildings, why not have the ability to send and receive mail to your
neighbors....I thought that with the addition of the Town Center that
they may have been working toward something like this but I was deeply
saddened when I learned that basically all it is good for is posting a
message no one ever reads, Keeping your supplies stats and giving you
some energy every 18 hours or so.

NUMBER NINE:

Why
is it that every time I'm deep in a harvesting binge rocking out on
full screen view and I need to ask a friend for something the dang page
HAS to minimize itself and basically Lag for 5 seconds making me miss
the blue star bonuses and everything. Why Can I not post something to
someones wall in full screen mode?  grrr..

NUMBER EIGHT:

Three
words..."FIX THE LAG" sometimes this game runs so slow I don't even
want to play it. There have actually been times that I have places a
building, paid for it, waited min after min for it to show up and it
never has. The game runs so slowly sometimes and it has nothing to do
with your computers ability. It would just be so wonderful if the game
actually ran the way it was ment to for one day....I get so sick of the
"Loading Assets" pop up

NUMBER SEVEN:

Why
in the world would I want to buy a 12x12 expanation when I can only use
3x3 of it because of the coast and the water. They all ready cost a
million zoning permits to expand. I should be able to configure the area
in which I can purchase.

NUMBER SIX:

I
don't want to get too Sim City on you here but Natural Disasters would
make things a little more intresting. Why have Firestations and no
fires?

NUMBER FIVE:

The ability to buy, sell, con, or trade items and buildings between neighbors within the actual game would be awesome.

NUMBER FOUR:

I
dig the whole Bandit thing but since when did my city give birth to so
many friggan theives. I sware I catch one every time I collect from
anything. And what the heck is with a cop that sleeps for three days
after an arrest only to be awaken by Fried Dough? Makes no sense to me.

NUMBER THREE:

When
I idle my mouse over an object for a time peroid of fifteen seconds or
so it should become transparent so I can see behind it instead of
haveing to constantly move buildings to access things behind them when
rearranging me city.

NUMBER TWO:

The
game really really would be so so much better if you could move the
screen in 45 degree incriments to see your city from different points of
view. Normally this is priority in any building type game so you can
see what is going on behind stuff and place things in a more suspectable
and convienent location. Screen Rotation is a must for games like this.

AND FINALLY.......

NUMBER ONE:

WHY
THE HELL CAN I NOT REMOVE MY OWN FRANCHISE FROM SOMEONES CITY THAT
HASN'T PLAYED IN MONTHS??  (I'm just kidding that one is to easy to be
number one) Before I go and reveal the number one thing that Cityville
needs to be able to do to make the game a LOT better I am going to share
with you the FIVE THINGS THAT ZYNGA SAID THEY COULD HAVE DONE BETTER WHEN DEVELOPING THE GAME...

Trains are only "kind of cool"
Yes, the trains in the game will bring you goods, but they don't really add that 'wow' factor.
Simpler interface for Franchises
"People just click on the buttons and don't really know what they mean," says Skaggs.
Expansions
It was too easy to buy expansions and people's cities grew too quickly.
Longer run way on the simulation
In normal-person speak, that means that power players shouldn't have been able to crank through the game as quickly as they did.
More surprises and easter eggs
What's more fun than discovering a hidden secret in the game? In
FarmVille, it's great to discover that you can trap your farmer so you
can get things done faster. In Pet Society, it's really fun the first
time you get your pet to produce collectible poo.
Other challenges Skaggs said the CityVlle team faced when making the
game was creating a story that was as engaging as the one in
FrontierVille (you have to get a spouse, start a family) and injecting
fun into the game.
This might be controversial, but I'd argue that CityVille -- despite its
runaway success -- is still lacking on the fun factor. Maybe perhaps
improvements to the five things listed above (my personal vote is for
more surprises/Easter eggs) would bring a much needed sense of delight
to the game that's present in FarmVille and FrontierVille but somehow
still missing in this virtual city planner.

WHICH BRINGS ME TO THE NUMBER ONE THING THAT CITYVILLE NEEDS TO MAKE MY LIFE COMPLETE....

I
thought about this a lot, at first it was going to be the ability to
rotate the screen but that somewhere along the way fell into the number
two spot. Then I wanted to complain about the new LIMIT on energy and
other items in your posession but I don't even want to waste my
time...So I pondered and pondered and then it hit me...The one thing
that would make this game much more intresting would be an actual point
to increasing in levels other than the free energy...I was so happy when
they made it so I could surpass level 60 but to my own personal dismay I
was soon to realize that leveling up is almost pointless at that point.

"Leveling
up in any videogame should mean something, especially those with a
persistent element like social games. Achieving a level should feel like
reaching a new height in the game with added features and powers. At
the moment, leveling up in CityVille is just another number. Thankfully,
Zynga realizes this and is likely working to fix it, but it will take
time to make 37 levels of content worthwhile.
An ideal temporary
fix would be to add small rewards (in addition to the Energy refill) to
each level beyond 63. For instance, Level 64 rewards players with a free
Tower Eats. Reach Level 65 and you're rewarded with an Expansion. (Side
note: Expansions shouldn't have been tied to cash reserves at all.
Wouldn't it feel that much better to receive an even bigger city each
time you grew as a mayor? [Logistically speaking, maybe every other
level?])
However, this doesn't solve the problem of leveling up
too quickly. Frankly, too many tasks reward XP. Everything from
harvesting crops to collecting from Residencies to collecting from
Businesses rewards XP. One of two things needs to happen to slow this
process down: Either fewer things reward XP or the XP required to level
increases. The best route to solve the issue while maintaining that
feeling of accomplishment? Replace XP in some places with more tangible
rewards. How about allowing Businesses to randomly provide new
decorations relevant to that type of business rather than XP when
collected?"

I have thought about many of these ideas as well! They would make things much easier but I would also like to see a search button when you go to your neighbors pages. Say you have to send 20 tourists to a glasses store...it would be so much easier if we were able to go to their cities, type in "glasses shop" (or whatever it is) and the search button find it for us instead of us having to browse through their entire city looking for this little shop!

That is another really good idea that would help Zanga keep more players around.

How about connecting your farmville crops with your cityville goods so you don't run out?

haha, Thank you! I put a decent amount of time into it but it was very late at night and my firefox spell checker didn't seem to be working correctly. I'm very elated that people actually agree with me on this subject.

OMG, You are so right 100% on everything!! This is the kind of post that should win the writing competitions, except the fact that your spelling sucks. lol
