Light-bulb1-Click Gifts Status: NOT WORKING FOR CHROME

Please_share
by Amy Wong - Oct 01, 2011 Star_s162,164 views
Update: 5/18/2015: We are very sorry to say we are no longer able to continue supporting the Snag Bar. Thank you for all your support and you can read more details here.

Current Status: NOT WORKING FOR CHROME 12/3/2014

We are sorry to announce that we no longer are able to support 1-Click Gifts for Chrome as they do not allow this functionality to work. Please use Firefox or Internet Explorer as it's still working on those browsers to use this feature.

This post shows the current status of 1-Click Gifts, which is updated regularly as problems occur. Please check this thread when you think your 1-Click Gifts is not working.

Additional Known Issues

  • "Accept All" button isn't showing up (IE and Firefox only). While this may indicate a problem, the first thing you should do is go to your Toolbar Preferences page and make sure the "Enable 1-Click Gifts" option is checked.
  • Does not work for games that require you to accept the gifts in-game. This includes games like FarmVille 2, ChefVille, CoasterVille, Ravenskye City, and Adventure World. To see if 1-Click Gifts will work with your game, try clicking a Gift Requests link manually. If you get the gift, then 1-Click Gifts will work for your game. If you are taken to the game directly, then 1-Click Gifts will not work for your game.
  • Does not work on items that require a secondary action to be performed. This includes actions where you might have to pick between two options or leave a message for the person or specifically click a link sending an item back to the sender.

Additional Information

Browsers

The Snag Bar / 1-Click Gifts currently works on the following browsers:

  • PC: Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome
  • MAC: Firefox

Our framework provider is reportedly working on a version for the Safari browser for MAC computers. As far as we know, they currently have no plans to release versions for any other browser.

Uninstall the Snag Bar / 1-Click Gifts

  • Internet Explorer: Tools --> Manage add-ons --> disable & delete Gamers Unite! Snag Bar
  • Firefox: Firefox --> Add-ons --> Extensions --> disable & delete Gamers Unite! Snag Bar
  • Chrome: Customize and control Google Chrome --> Settings --> Extensions --> disable & delete Gamers Unite! Snag Bar
  • IE & Chrome: Also uninstall Gamers Unite! Snag Bar form the Add/Remove Programs page in your computer's Control Panel

App, Flash, and Browser Cleaning

From time to time, your computer, your browser, Facebook, or the Snag Bar / 1-Click Gifts may simply start misbehaving for no good reason. Something, somewhere, just stops working like it is suppose to, and no amount of screaming, yelling, or hitting your computer screen will fix it.

There could be any number of reasons why this happens, far too many to get into. Sometimes, the only thing to do is clean out some of the cobwebs, uninstall a few things, and/or update a few things. It's a hassle, yes, but you would be surprised how often this can work.

The steps below will help you do all that. If you are experiencing a problem with the Snag Bar / 1-Click Gifts not responding like it should, the below steps should be the first thing you do. Complete them in the order given and exactly as written. Do not take any shortcuts or skip any steps, as it's possible that the one shortcut you take or step you skip is the one that would have helped you.

  1. Delete the GU! App from your Facebook Profile (http://www.facebook.com/settings/?tab=applications)
  2. Log out of Facebook (do this on every browser installed on your computer)
  3. Visit Gamers Unite! (http://gamersunite.com), look in the top right corner of the page, and make sure you are logged out (do this on every browser installed on your computer)
  4. Uninstall the GU! Snag Bar (http://gamersunite.coolchaser.com/topics/74033-gamers-unite-snag-bar-status-working - do this for every browser the Snag Bar is installed on)
  5. Clear Flash Player cache (http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html - "Delete All Sites")
  6. Clear your browser's cache (do this for every browser installed on your computer)
  7. Reboot your computer
  8. Open your browser (pick one browser)
  9. If using Chrome, make sure you have the latest version installed (select “About Google Chrome” in the browser or type chrome://chrome in the URL bar)
  10. If using Firefox, make sure you have the latest version installed (select “Firefox” --> “Help” --> “About Firefox” --> “Check for Updates”)
  11. If using IE or FF, make sure your Flash Player is updated: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html (does not apply to Chrome)
  12. If using IE or FF, make sure your Shockwave Player is updated: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome (does not apply to Chrome)
  13. Log back into Facebook
  14. Reinstall the GU! App (http://gamersunite.com - blue "Connect with Facebook" button on top right of page)
  15. Reinstall the Snag Bar (http://gamersunite.com - "Get the Snag Bar” link on top left of page)
  16. Set your preferences on the Toolbar Preferences page (http://gamersunite.coolchaser.com/toolbar/preferences)
  17. Close & reopen your browser
  18. Test out the Snag Bar

In addition, ALL QUESTIONS IN THE HIGHLIGHTED SECTION BELOW MUST BE ANSWERED when seeking 1-Click Gifts support from us. While it may seem like there are too many questions or that they are not needed, these questions are the only way we have to "see" what is happening on your computer. This is especially true when the problem you are experiencing is not a site-wide problem and cannot be recreated by the Gamers Unite! Staff, as is the case with over 95% of the issues reported to us.

FAILURE TO READ THIS POST AND ALL STICKIED COMMENTS BEFORE POSTING, and/or failing to answer all questions in the highlighted section below, may result in your post being deleted or ignored.

NOTE: This thread is for reporting issues with 1-CLICK GIFTS ONLY! Posting of issues regarding any other Gamers Unite! tool, or asking any question not specifically related to our 1-Click Gifts tool, WILL BE DELETED.

  10. Does anyone else use the same computer to access their Facebook account
  11. Does the problem occur on other Facebook accounts you or your family have (if applicable)
  12. Whether the problem occurs when using a different browser
  13. Whether the problem occurs constantly or randomly
  14. What steps have you taken to try and solve this problem (be specific)
  15. Whether anything changed after taking those steps and, if so, exactly what changed
  16. 14) A step-by-step detailed description of what happens from the moment you visit Facebook’s Gift Requests page
  17. A screenshot of the problem
  18. Any other information that might be relevant to this problem

Please leave a clear, well-written, well-punctuated, and detailed description of your issue. If we cannot read or understand what you have written, or if you do not include enough information about your problem, then we may be unable to help.

Troubleshooting Wizard / Screensharing

While we will do our best to help you, it is possible that we may hit a dead end and not know how to proceed. If that happens, you may be asked to screenshare with us. This is where you will download a program that will allow us to connect with your computer so we can attempt to diagnose the issue.

If we ask to screenshare with you and you are willing, please visit our Troubleshooting Wizard. This page will ask you a few questions to ensure that nothing has been missed. If the problem still exists, you will be directed to a page with instructions on how to prepare to screenshare with us. Once you are ready to screenshare, post in this thread that you are ready and we will attempt to get an Admin to connect with you.

Because there are only a couple of people on the Gamers Unite! Staff who can screenshare, this is an option of last resort. Submitting a screenshare request without first attempting to get help in this thread may result in your request being ignored. In addition, there may be times where screensharing is not warranted even if we have run out of thoughts and options on what may be causing your issue.

Please note that if you are asked to screenshare but choose not to do so, then we will be unable to provide any additional 1-Click Gifts support for you.

We are sorry to announce that since Chrome does not allow this functionality anymore, we need to discontinue supporting 1-Click Gifts for Chrome :( It still works on Firefox and Internet Explorer so please use those browsers in the future for this functionality.

As of this past week, and right now, 1-click Gifts does NOT work in Firefox any longer. That NO 1-Click Gifts in Chrome OR Firefox as of now.

BTW why don't you just add the code from the add on to your bar? Wouldn't that work? If Chromes add on works if you add the code from the add on to you app wouldn't that fix it. Don't do it verbatim or you may copyright infringe unless it's free ware right? Just my thought before I head to Mozilla to collect my goodies...LOL...Even if there are bugs it's so great how on it you guy's are at addressing the issues and answering user questions. Thanks for the app & your positively awesome attitude about being true support specialist! Great job!

I was able to get my bar to work by downloading the add on from the Google store for gamers unite. It worked great for a few games after that! That's all I had to do. You will see two 'G' buttons on you toolbar at the top right. One is from this site and the other is the google add on. Don't delete either. If you delete one it stops working. Prior to figuring that out nothing worked on Chrome. My only problem now is all of my games aren't showing up in the selection box at the top of the preference page. Only the preloaded games that I don't play are there. Not my games. I've tried everything to get rid of them and add my games but it doesn't work. :( At this point I'm just using Mozilla for Gamers Unite & Chrome to play. Works but it's not right. If some know's a remedy let me know please. It's a hassle going between two apps. Also, remember many games put time limits for gathering gifts of 2-48 hrs. Now If you snooze you loose. You must get them as soon as they posted on your page or you'll loose it. They show up as being their but they are worthless & don't give you anything. Just delete them if they're over a few days old and the newer ones get collected ok. Problem solved on that one too. Help would be great about how to add my games to the game box that's at the very top on the preference page :(

We are looking into this, but Chrome may have changes so they don't allow script injection anymore In which case, we might have to discontinue supporting Chrome just for the 1-click gifts. It still shows up on Firefox and IE we believe.

Very sad to see 1-Click Gifts disappear from Google Chrome... what are those people at Chrome thinking of anyway??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have had several other contacts over the internet install the Gamers Unite Snag Bar for Google Chrome... NONE of them get the Red Accept All Button for 1-Click Gifts.

Browser: Google Chrome Up To Date
Probloem: Red Accept All Button in 1-Click Gifts is GONE.
Computers: 4 of our own. 2 Windows 7 Ultimate and 2 Windows XP SP3.
Tried EVERYTHING in the above list of troubleshooting. NO CHANGE.

NOTE: FireFox still works. This is only in Chrome.

Done everything you have asked and the accept all button still wont show.
VERY disappointing considering a moneth ago it was working just fine and then one day... gone....
Are there any other apps for chrome that allow this one click service?
